I have another ebay special. A Nemrod Saturn first stage. This is a very heavy second stage, heavier than a 109 but it shares a similar looking split ring, rubber diaphragm cover with metal cover. There is also a breathing adjustment knob on the side like the Scuba Pro 109. Then I took it apart.......... The spring has a dished cup on the end with a tiny ball bearing sitting loose in the cup. There is a flat part that compresses the spring but the spring does not get twisted as the flat part doing the compression, is rotating on the small ball bearing. I would love to find a schematic or drawing of the assembly. I am not certain if the seat unscrews from the regulator body. It is extremely tight if it does and I felt the entire heavy duty case start to twist before the orfice would unscrew, if it actually does unscrew.

It doesn't surprise me that it looks a lot like a ScubaPro: from what I've read, patents were not respected by Nemrod because they considered invalid in Spain--HMMMMMM Like the Snark-II; its internals on the first stage are identical to USD stuff Jaybird

Saturn project update. This is a really different second stage. Having a schematic made a huge difference.
The diaphragm was a bit stiff, I had a collection of parts and a clear silicone diaphragm from I believe was a Pro-Sub second stage, it fit perfectly. A metric O ring kit from Harbor Freight had the 2 O rings I needed. Then there is a matter of the soft seat. I found that one for a Scubapro Air II fit. The exhaust valve looked to be in good working order, it is silicone and was good to go; however it really seemed a little on the heavy duty side. Kinda thick and a little snug fitting. With a new seat, cleaned and lubed, the second stage has an extremely easy inhale. Exhale effort is significant. The exhaust valve is large enough, but overly tight and stiff. Will have to work on the exhaust side.

Huh, I found this image The diaphragm reminds me of what Dacor did with their DH's, that being an accordion pleat--smart! JB

Thanks for posting...wow! the diaphragm that came out of mine didn't look like that, interesting. Too bad we can't get a new silicone diaphragm for all the old dogs out there. I was given a Sportsway's Sport Diver III, black label, never used in its original box. That one had a silicone diaphragm and with a second stage seat change, breaths pretty decent all things considered.

A while ago I got a box of "stuff" from Charlie. One of the things I got was an old Sportsways/Water Lung Sport Diver second stage with a tilt-valve: I cannibalized it! The diaphragm I put in my Navy Unit-II, insanely soft neoprene, and the tilt-valve I put in my Scuba Star!
