Well, the continuity of the joke is lost. That wasn't you in yesterday's avatar? LOL!

Are we allowed to bring a few yard-sale items to this gathering? I've got a Sportsways 1/2" o-ring valved tank that needs a new home. There are a few other treasures that are up for grabs as well.

If you look for someone who looks like my avatar, you'll never find me. The beard and blonde hair are as long gone as that '77 Toyota behind me.

As long as you come carrying a nice ling, we'll still recognize you.

I always thought that is was standard operating procedure to bring items to sell at a vintage dive event? That is half the fun!!! Once more...I wish I was not living on the wrong coast because I'd love to go and meet you all "in real life"! Have fun! Mark

Bring whatever you want to. Buy, sell or trade, it's all good! Or just bring your favorite toys to show them off. No rules other than be nice to everyone you meet and have a good time.

Regarding buy, sell, trade at the "gathering". When I first thought about this get together, buying, selling and/or trading vintage gear wasn't a part of the equation, I just thought that it was a good idea. After reading about other events like this it appears to be an important part of it. To that end, I will be down-sizing my collection, which includes:
1967 RAM in the original box (not in divable condition); 1966 Royal Master; NED branded Waterlung Hydro Twin II; USD aluminum doubles, 50cf; Assorted single hose regulators, other stuff that you might be interested in.
I am looking for a USD cam pack from the early 1970's.
So, bring money, bring your toys, bring your camera and get ready to have a good time in Monterey!

Ok it's only 3 weeks away! I decided to post a family portrait of my toys I'm bringing to use for the big event. Yes I had some time on my hands- He he he! Clockwise 72cu ft tank, my set of triples & DW Mistral, twin set USD 53's & RAM, twin 38's, 72 cu ft w/ VDH plate & zeagle 24lb wing, and DA Phoenix DH, Seatec Horsecollar BC, and Cyklon 300 reg. That should do it for now, but I'm sure I find something else to bring. So let's post a pic of your toys you are bringing. Jerry

Less than a week before our Monterey get together. The weather is expected to be excellent; low 70's daytime to high 40's at night. If anyone would like to go to the Aquarium, as volunteers my wife and I have free passes. We can each get 6 people in for free on any day. It's a great deal because an adult admission is $50.
We have 8-10 people who have said that they would attend. There will probably be lots of divers there that weekend who will drop by to chat and look at gear that is older than they are so be nice to them. I will try to get there and set up my canopy by 6 a.m. Parking is expensive but if you have a handicap plate or placard you can park for free at any metered space or city lot that does not have a gate and attendant.
See you there!

Can't wait to get there. I plan on coming down on the 12th and staying through 16th. I might buy a pop up to bring also as well as a table. I am also making a sign that will stick into the grass saying something like "vintage divers". My wife and grandson are coming with me and would be interested in going to the Aquarium one of the days while we are diving. They would be very appreciative to tickets if available. Below is an updated list of those attending, either both days or just one day. Most attendees are from this forum and several others from VDH forum-
crabbyjim vance duckbill nikejax cnotthoff fishnbeer Andy F. Eric S. - maker of the freedom plate George A. TylerAronson - looking to try & buy a DH lexvil
If any others that I missed I apologize.
See ya at the beach!

Wish I could make it, but having been out in CA the week before last, I need to stay put for a while. I'm hoping this is a success, and that you all will do this every year. If so, I'll make the next one, bring some demo Aquala suits and plenty of Aquala swag. Have a blast!

Getting down to the nitty gritty. Some questions:
Just how expensive is parking in the San Carlos Beach parking lot for the day? Or is there a time limit now? Still only credit cards accepted at the kiosk? About what time on a Saturday/Sunday morning does the parking lot become 1/2 to 2/3 full? I'm just wondering what a latest 'safe' time would be.
