There are two conditions that come to my mind, but I only know a bit about one of them. That condition is called aseptic bone necrosis, which can come from a slight decompression sickness hit. It is what got Scott Carpenter out of the US Navy Sealab Projects. The other condition I recall had something to do with the brain, but I don't remember exactly what it is. (After thinking this over, I don't think I was remembering correctly--ignore that last comment--John, later in the PM.)
You might wish to call the Diver's Alert Network, or go to the ScubaForums website and look for for the "Ask the Doc" area. I'll post the link later this evening.

Hi Michael, The forum on the ScubaForum board is called "Ask Dr. Decompression." He should be able to give you some better advise than I can. You can get there at: www.scubaboard.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15Keep us informed, and provide us a link to that site too. I'd like to follow the conversation. I made one comment above that I don't think was valid, about the brain being effected. I think that was a reference to something else, but I was kinda tired after a long week. My apologies. John

Michael,
You might take a look at the ScubaForum site. I just posted a bunch of material over there for you.
