Hi! Got a Healthways 1965 Catalog and wonder if two of the displayed regs ever appeared: There is a Reg with compensated first stage called Scubair + B and a twostage piston doublehose reg named Scuba Master. Does anyone know anything about these regs or owns them? regards frank

I believe that the "Scubamaster" regulator later came out as a single hose regulator, with a weight on the exhaust valve to keep it from free flowing in certain positions. I do not remember a double hose of that name. Could you get that catelog scanned and put on line here for us to see. I would enjoy being able to see the regulator.

It would be helpful to have better resolution for at least the double hose. But looking at the photo and diagram, without being able to see the details, this really looks like the Healthways Scuba Deluxe regulator, a single stage double hose regulator that was marketed and sold during that time period. It was also a very nice regulator, if you replaced the hoses with USD hoses. It have as good or better breathing characteristics as the USD Mistral, and a better venturi system. That is, if the diagram shows this to be that regulator (Scuba Deluxe).

Frank,
That Scuba Master double hose regulator looks superficially like the Scuba Delux, but is what you say it is, a two-stage double hose regulator which I have never seen before. Wow, if only it had been produced at the time, it would have beat the DA Aquamaster in the market. It would have had to overcome one problem that I see, and that is the hose/mouthpiece system being too short and too small to pass large quantities of air. This could have been done by incorporating the Hope-Page mouthpiece into the design, or getting an updated version of it. But it would have been a dream regulator, with the mushroom exhaust and what even looks like a balanced first stage. The use of LP and HP ports would have also set it apart. It appears that they at least made the label, but you cannot tell the difference from the front of the regulator between the Scuba Deluxe and the Scuba Master. But I wish I could have had one in the 1970s.

Hi John,
I think that you are right - this one would have been a really good reg (maybe like a voit triestes performance?) . I think that this regs wasn´t built as the singlehoses had so much success... If there is any of this regs - would be very interested...
