as I get older it is more difficult for me to dive in cold water (Monterey Bay) due an ankle injury. I would like to buy a pair of 1970’s vintage Farafins. The brace-like supporting structure might help. If you have a pair that you might part with or know someone who does, please let me know.
Thanks!

I bought a pair when they first came out. 1st, fell on my derriere every time I tried to enter or exit the surf (yea, I know they advertised they locked up and were no problem with surf entries (I call bull..). 2nd, my legs cramped up something fierce on each and every dive. They were expensive fins and I literally threw them in the trash. Of course, I'm sure there are those who swore by them so YMMV. My 2 psi.

I appreciate your input. When I was younger my ankle didn't bother me as much as it does today. 48 years later with no cartilage in the ankle joint I find myself icing it down most afternoons. I'm sure that you are familiar with Searat's experience with his Farafins and the modifications that he made to them. He doesn't mention cramping but each of us has unique problems with our bodies as we age.
As I remember, they were expensive when they were introduced and people complained about the design flaws, but the idea of harnessing the power of the upper leg muscles was interesting.
