Well, one of the big pluses is there are waaaaaaaaaay less cars on the road: air quality has gone up dramatically Also, out of necessity I have to drive to Downtown Oakland several times a week: on a really good day I can get there in 15-minutes--now I make in 10! JB

Yes, I have had several bycicle rides, and the traffic is light. 'Good riding right now, though much of my ride is on trails. Yesterday, Chris and I went on a 6.3 mile walk on the trail near our home too. So we've been getting out.
I think this Covid-19 pandemic is going to change things in the world, and in the USA. I don't think it will be over by the time of our proposed get-together in June. Hopefully the peak will have passed by then though.

I don't think it will be over by June, either.

Ya, but we'll wait until about mid-April to make the determination. Nothing needs to be done until then.

Time to talk about the Clear Lake gathering. Every time we get close to the announced end of the quarantine, the deadline gets extended.
I received an email yesterday from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where I am a volunteer guide, announcing that the earliest possible date to re-open is July 1, 2020. There is a big difference between the Aquarium (indoors, visitors from around the world and dependence on old, retired volunteers) and Clear Lake (an outdoor venue), attendance still requires travel and all of the interactions that accompany that travel.
Your thoughts?
P.S. It has come to my attention that many of you fall under the heading of "elderly".

Jim,
I am one of those "elderly" divers, at 74 years old. I say we cancel for this year, and look toward the next. Right now, all Oregon State Parks are completely closed. It is unlikely they will re-open until this Covid-19 stuff is over, and I mean completely over. I watched today's briefing, and there are three "phases" to reopening the nation. Each state will have a different arrangement, so I think this will not be a good time to have this event. At the begining of the month, my wife said we should cancel. I wanted to wait until the middle of the month to get a better look at things, but it seems that we are not out of the woods, so to speak, yet. So, I say, cancel.
John
PS, I answered the repetitive dive problem in the other forum. JB said that story problems don't bode well for his mind, but I hope it at least introduced people to the difference between diving at altitude and at sea level.

I agree with John. Let's cancel this one and wait until there is a vaccine. We have cancelled our room reservations. I am going to start another thread about Monterey 2020.
BTW John, would you mind posting a link to "the other forum" so that I can check my work?

Okay, there’s now a vaccine, and I’m fully vaccinated. We missed the opportunity for 2021, but I’m now starting a planning session in Clear Lake for 2022. While we’re waiting, here’s a video shot by my Portland friend and fellow diver, Sakamoto Kan:

Found This Online..."Clear Lake is about 142 acres in size and lies at an elevation of 3,012 feet, with a maximum depth of 175 feet. It is one of the clearest and coldest lakes in the Cascades...." With a description like that, it sounds like our own Upper Michigan favorite Fortune Pond. It sounds like a great place to hold a Vintage Get Together. I'm going to try and attend!

I'm totally up for a Clear Lake vintage dive! I assume we are talking summer 2022. July is best for me - just saying.
Keep us posted!

I agree with Mark. Clear Lake 2022 or Bust! (Please forgive me if I wear my non-vintage drysuit.)

I agree with Mark. Clear Lake 2022 or Bust! (Please forgive me if I wear my non-vintage drysuit.) You are forgiven! The only things vintage I will have on is a regulator and set of twin 38 tanks. The rest of my gear will be optimized for warmth. I suppose my body inside my drysuit is also vintage - so there's that. Mark
