Greetings -
I own a Healthways Gold Label 3rd model dual hose reg. Had it serviced years ago when I purchased it and it worked fine for the few times I used it, but have been reluctant to do much with it as I could not locate a banjo fitting for a pressure gauge. Anyway, now I find that the hoses have given up the ghost and need replacing. I have the bands and the mouthpiece with the one-way valve which works fine, but the hoses are history. Anybody have a source in or around the Toronto Ontario area for replacement hoses and a banjo fittings that will not cost me a fortune? Thanks.

Kevin, try the Scuba Museum for the hoses, they are the one inch type. As for the banjo fitting, hmmm, but you could get a tank valve with a port for an espeegee, (SPG), or you can get a Y-valve and then to run your peripheries you would use something like a piston-model Calypso on one side...

The Dacor J valves, they have the tap for a pressure gauge and pretty easy to find

Welcome aboard Kevin! Did you ask about hoses on my Healthways Scuba Facebook page recently? I echo what Jaybird said...I got my hoses from The Scuba Museum and have been happy. I'm sure that Rob has no issue sending parcels to Canada? Also what DB said, Dacor J (and K I think?) Valves had a HP port and are fairly easy to find and rebuildable. I have learned to dive and trust a J-Valve. At first diving without an SPG took a leap of faith(if you did not learn to dive with one?), but so far have been just fine. I am also learning to get a feel for how much air I am using, etc. But Dacor and Healthways J & K Valves of the 60's and 70's have parts for SPGs. I think a couple other brands might have this feature as well?, but can't think of any off the top of my head. Mark www.thescubamuseum.com/Online%20Store/onlinestore.htm

I’m with tomcat. When I first started diving the double hose I bought the dacor valves to put on a spg. But never did go through with it. Just dive till out of air, flip the j valve and head up. The KISS principle has been around a long time.

Don’t tell the dive police, but sometimes I use a K valve without an SPG. Eventually you learn how much you use at what depth with what gear. It’s all about consistency.

Another option is to use USD hoses and change the mouthpiece, thats what I use on my HW GL. The mouthpiece end of the USD hose is larger so you have to replace the mouthpiece as well. Odds are the old HW mouthpiece is hard (unless it's a Hope Page)and uncomfortable to use anyway. USD straight, curved and Voit hourglass reproductions are available. I prefer the Voit hourglass design as it fits my mouth better followed by the curved. The straight one is uncomfortable to me so I don't use it unless I have to (vintage events that require it). You would need to replace the mouthpiece valves as well, unless you changed them in the HW mouthpiece, they need replacing, the old ones just don't hold up this long. VDH and/or The Scuba Museum has the parts available.

Thank you all for the insights and suggestions. I would prefer to remain with proper HEALTHWAYS sized hoses (don't have the sense of humour to start playing 'musical fittings and hoses'. The SCUBA MUSEUM does appear to have workable hoses so upon taking some dia measurements, I will explore them further. I already have a USD J-valve on my tank but perhaps switching to a Dacor might be an option, if I can't locate a banjo fitting. Thanks again.

A one inch hose is a one inch hose. It’ll fit on a Spirotechnique mouthpiece or Healthways mouthpiece the same. The stretch hoses are ok, but the USD loop works the best. Better airflow, comfort, etc.
Banjo fittings and a yoke are also available on the scuba museum. Not a bad price either. $50 for the new made Banjo and $45 for the yoke. For $100 you’ve got brand new parts that will hold up for decades to come.
If the scuba museum doesn’t have it, it was never made.

Kevin, HW did make that kind of K-valve too, just so ya know. The challenges of working within a specific brand can be very rewarding in the pay off, "Well what do ya know, I did it!"

A couple of things: There isn't enough clearance to use a banjo on a Healthways yoke, and long USD yoke won't fit the Healthways regs. The GL's yoke nut could be turned on a lathe to make the clearance, I think, but I haven't tried that yet. A tank valve w/ an HP port is the easiest and cheapest alternative. I don't like having the SPG on the tank. Too much chance of damage in transporting and storage. 1" EPDM hoses are very short, although they do stretch a fair amount. I have used them and they're ok. They fit Healthways and any other 1" mouthpiece. Herman's suggestion of using USD hoseloops on these is really the way to go. No drama installing. The 1" cuffs fit the GL (and every other regulator with standard air horns), and the 1 1/2" non-returns make the GL even better. Save the old ones for display or collector value. Here's the EPDM hoses on my GL:
