Does anybody remember the name of the Co. that made a screwcap on the tank backpack for the purpose of adding leadshot?

That wasn't the AtPak, was it? I know that the AtPak did use lead shot, but I'm not sure that's what you are talking about.

It is very much like the AtPak but instead of a rip cord style bottom plate for E-release it just had a screw-cap on it to put lead shot into it.

I have seen those and I do believe that it was the predecessor to the atpac, with no wing. I have seen some of the early patent sheets filed by Bill Waters (one of the founders of Watergill) and it seems to show that design.
