(As Moderator, I get the privilege of moving posts around if they are not appropriate to the topic. This thread originated in the thread on manned submarines for divers. Since none of the Assignment Underwater TV shows had underwater subs in them, I felt this was a great topic here in the Vintage Diving Media for a brand new thread. John Ratliff) Had not seen this show before but I will be watching my first episode www.dailymotion.com/video/x2mlb1i

Unfortunately, there aren't many to be seen What I really appreciate about it is that it empowers children, and a girl at that!!!! Patty isn't an "icky girl", she's a very kick @ss young lady The actor Bill Williams was also in a show called "Date with the Angels" with Betty White: very, very funny show, and if you like Betty White, she is totally smokin'-hot! and if you like that show, be sure to check out, "Life with Elizabeth" too... I liked Assignment Underwater too. Here's some viewing for you.
Note the triple tank Aqualung, and the Aquamaster regulators with yellow hoses. Also, two divers wore Duck Feet fins, and oval masks.
John
PS, that was a really nice diversion.

I would imagine one needs to keep a very sharp eye on the depth-gauge: I could see getting into trouble with a bad deco...

Did anyone else recognize George Takei, of Star Trek fame, in this episode. His wiki page doesn't give him credit for staring in this episode. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_TakeiJohn

What a long and varied career George Takei has. Thank you for pointing this out. Assignment Underwater was right at the beginning of his career too. These shows seem to have better information and script work than Sea Hunt had. The description of the rebreather (something to the effect of "It can kill you in ten different ways"), and if going too deep with the rebreather were right on. I also enjoyed seeing in the introduction to each show Bill being dropped off into the water off a H-19 helicopter hoist. John

My wife and I really love Patty: I'm very hard pressed to think of a TV show where a girl gets to do adventurous things from that period, and pretty much even now, that doesn't feel forced. Girls were only being primed to become mothers and or homemakers, "Isn't that a very pretty dress: now go play with your dollies!" You are very right about the writing John Gunna have to watch these again! JB
