Several times now while viewing this forum, the heading shows the following, "Atlantis Gay Cruises All-Gay Cruise Vacations to the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska & More atlantisevents.com Ads by Google" Is this a sponsor, or are we sponsoring them? Or are we at the mercy of google's choosing? I guess this post is directed at an administrator.

Well, if you had aol you would see woemn holding hands in a similar header on the aol homepage. There is a subtle or even outright promotion lof this lifestyle, not that there is anything wrong with it (Seinfeld). I was wondering what that was all about but was afraid it might only be on mine--lol. I am convinced that sometime during the middle 70s I went to bed and during my sleep an evil PadI troll transported me to bizzaro world were I now live in a bizzare parallel universe. This is the only explanation which I can come up with to explain were the country I was born into went because wherever it went I am not there anymore. James

It is because the ads are displayed based on the content of the website. A SCUBA website will be lumped into the same general category as other water sports and aquatic or nautical content. The reason you see more links for gay cruises and the like is because those advertisements are not generally accepted in more "traditional" advertising media, like radio and tv, so they tend to concentrate their advertising on more focused channels, like web ads, while someone like Royal Caribbean will focus on more diffuse and more widespread ads.

Exactly. And yes, we are at the mercy of Google Adsense. I think the ads are rather entertaining. It's fun to see what comes up based on page content. We should start a thread based on elephant tutus and see what Google does with that....
