OK gang, share with us something that made you laugh or smile today! This made my day: the very thought of a song so raucous coming out of an antediluvian church bell tower made me grin from ear to ear JB

I’m lying on my bed in the ManyGlacier Lodge, looking out over Swiftcurrent Lake right now. My wife and I hiked 7 miles into the wilderness today, seeing some bears and moose. That and the ice cold beer are making me smile!

Here am I about to "lower the tone" after John's wonderful piece brought a wistful smile to my lips. I was leafing through my copy of the 1961 Mar-Vel "Diving Specialities" catalogue when my eyes alighted on the above item. I don't think I have ever encountered a "beach cabana" in real life before and I'm pretty sure that I've never seen one at a British seaside resort. My initial thought was that the object must be an American version of what we Brits call a "portaloo" and what you who are States-side might call a "porta potty". I imagined somebody at work inside digging a deep hole in the wet sand with a bucket and spade, heaping the leftover sand outside to build a splendid sandcastle later on, complete with moat. When I studied the small print and determined what the "cabana" was actually for, I was amused again by the first and third pictures on the right illustrating its use in a horizontal position with the occupant's head or legs poking out from what had been the "floor" of the contraption. It conjured up the image of other holidaymakers running to the rescue of some stricken foreign tourist whose cabana they thought had collapsed on top of him after one of our regular violent gusts of seaside wind! For a farewell UK "smile", here's our favourite English seaside ditty "I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside", perhaps accompanied by the resident organist at Blackpool Tower above (our own version of the Eiffel Tower) and complete with the lyrics to sing along with: I do so hope that makes you smile too! This one goes with John and DRW's: Seeing a Woman leading her band an' rippin' it up, makes me smile Here's the original version so you can compare: It's been several years since we saw our niece: we saw her yesterday! She just got her "Eagle, Globe and Anchor" graduating as a second lieutenant in the USMC. She and her older brother were adopted from the Ukraine, he's also in the 'Corps, he just got his Sergeant's-stripes: he been grumbling a lot because he is absolutely forced to salute his stinky little sister--SNORT! Something that made me happy today, I was visiting my parents at their lake house in NH and was able to "wet test" 2 double hose regs I've rebuilt. The first was my first double hose a Snark 3 (big surprise) it has the "Vance" second stage mod to allow for LP attachments. This reg worked flawlessly. I returned to the dock took off the tank and wing. I replaced the Snark 3 with my "rat rod" Phoenix-HPR-DBE-DAAquaNavyapproved, this also worked flawlessly. I had no LP attachments on this but I did have the wing on. I did note a couple of differences. The Phoenix inhalation was easier, but the Snark was easier to exhale, This should not be surprising as the Snark has a huge exhaust mushroom.
