I have a bit of a problem I want to bounce off you guys. The Northwest Oregon Scuba and Spearfishing Facebook page got this inquiry from a non-member:
It's from a girl named "Tanith Dare" and here's her Facebook page.

I responded that I have dived the Tualatin River, and could probably dive for her baby blanket (she pinpointed on Google Maps the location), but that I'd need my wife's approval to do so. There was an opportunity yesterday to do that dive, when my wife and I went canoeing on the Tualatin River, but my wife is pretty skeptical of this request. It doesn't quite ring true. As we went by, I did some scanning of the branches, logs and "stuff" in the river, but never saw it. There is an opportunity next Friday when my wife is worknig, but I haven't bounced that possibility off her. I also would not mind diving it, except it is upstream from where I normally dive, and I'd have to do some interesting things to dive it from my canoe.
If I were to do this, I'd bring along my Dacor Nautilus CVS unit, and a 72 cubic foot steel tank on it. I'd place it in the canoe, then at the dive site, tie off to a small dock that's there, and dive the river. I'm curious about whether the Asian clams have made it this far upstream, so this would also satisfy that curiousity. I'd simple throw the Dacor CVS into the water, and get into it in the water. Once the dive was completed, I could either leave the CVS in the water and tow it to the dock (less than a mile downstream) or actually pull it aboard. So that's kinda a tentative dive plan.
But, with my wife's skepticism, and the fact that I'd be diving solo in a strange part of the river, I've also got some misgivings about this attempt, especially for a childhood bably blanket (if that in fact is true, with no way of telling it). Now, if you are familiar with me at all (and most are) you know that I don't dive if the question of whether to dive or not even comes up. So with that consideration, I'll probably pass and let this one go.
But I thought it would be interesting to get your opinions too. What do you think?

hello, i was pointed in this direction by a friend, i’m looking to find someone who can help me retrieve something i dropped in the water, in Portland, Oregon. i’m sure you get lots of requests to help find things but this isn’t a phone or keys, it’s my baby blanket. i’m desperate. I fell out of my kayak on a deeper part of the lower tualatin river, i know exactly where, i just don’t have the skills or equipment to get to the bottom. please help, i’ll pay what i can, i’ll trade time or work, whatever is needed.
