Sitting in front of me is a pristine DA Aqua-master AND a new in box phoenix first stage that I managed to score.
First up, I haven't found any good reference documentation on swapping out the nozzle. The VDH site is kind of a mess a this point.
So, anyone have links to useful reference for this?
It looks like maybe I need a different pin and maybe pin pad for the phoenix nozzle...

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Sorry for not responding sooner. I’m currently in Spain, and haven’t been keeping up for a few days.
I don’t have any experience with the Phoenix, but I understand it’s based on the RAM and uses parts that can be found in most balanced USD regulators. There are a couple of different hp seats that require different length pins. The new type should be used in these. There’s s recent thread on the Kraken that has information about this subject that you should read.

With the correct pin, the swap should be very straight forward. To check pin length, put the pin into the nozzle an set the pad on it. If the pad is a bit proud of the nozzle end, it is the correct one. The old style will be too short. I forget the exact measurement, but there should be a small gap between the nozzle and the pin pad.

Just so you’ll know, there is a special slotted tool to use with the Aquamaster family of regulators to remove the first stage. Don’t try simply holding the box or horn to do this removal, and either or both may be damaged/bent. I’m trying to find my picture of this tool, but so far have not found it on my computer.

Silent Explorers has a list with sizes of the pins. They also show the various pin pads

Pad is good, pin may or may not be right length. If it's too long, just trim it to length. Respectfully, James

Luis is off diving but I an help. The Phoenix should have come complete with a pin, pad, gaskets and all of the internal parts (the internal parts are the same as a Conshelf or Titan so those are available), if you didn't get them, you will have to. Most of the stuff from a Titan or Conshelf will work but NOT the pin, depending on model, it's possible not the pad either- there are a couple models. If you have all the internals, the pins and pin pads are obtainable. The pins are custom size (not an off the shelf item)and are hardened stainless steel so DO NOT substitute just any pin, that is asking for problems. The only replacements I am aware of are off the shelf SS pins that must be cut to length. DO NOT try to cut them with pliers or a saw, they are hardened and will damage the pliers and/or the pin. You must cut them with a Dremel cutoff wheel or small grinder then tweak the length. I'm pretty sure I have the pin length written down somewhere if you need it. When installed in the Phoenix (with all internals installed), there should be about 0.040 inch of spacing between the pin and the Phoenix face and when depressed, it should rest on the Phoenix with NO space under it.
Hope that helps, let me know if you need more info, I have a lot of info on it.
Did a little digging, the pin is (Wrong size 0.006 ) should be 0.060 diameter, 1.33 in long and the spacing under the pad is 0.040 in. Pretty sure I cut them out of 1.5 stock.
