I have 2 Sea Voice by Sea Sonics, underwater communication devices. In original boxes and the instruction manual has a copyright of 1978. Could anyone tell me about these such as original cost, and if they are worth anything. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Years ago we had a page on our site that contained what we felt were "wacky" inventions... scuba-related "flops" if you will, and we included the Sea Voice on that page. We thought it was amusing. Here is an original ad for the Sea Voice, and there you have the original cost. They might have some value to the collector just because I don't think they were all that popular.... I mean, if they truly were a "flop", then there would be few of them around, especially today. "Real value" though, for anything collectible, is difficult to determine. Whatever someone will pay you is what it is "worth".

Linda, that's great you had the ad for the Sea Voice. If I remember right.... This didn't go over very well because you took your regulator out of your mouth to use it. When you did talk into it, the air from speaking filled up the balloon device and it wanted to raise up over your head. If it was important, what we did to talk was just talk into our regulator easy like and real close to the other guys ear. You can hear perfect. I'm sure with a double hose it would work the same way. Just a thought.

I would think a double hose would work better just for the fact that the exhaust bubbles aren't also bubbling in your buddy's ears.
