Yeah, it was dumpin' pretty good yesterday for about half an hour. As my mother who grew up in Iowa in the 1920's would have said, "It's rainin' pitchforks an' hammer-handles..." JB

My wife just checked the news: at Tahoe-Truckee area they've already gotten their 12-feet of snow, and it's still falling at 6-10-inches per hour, with occasional thunder-snow. OK, but this one is too much for me to fathom: wind gusts of 190-MPH... one-hundred-ninety miles an hour SIGH, this is getting scary... JB

That would mean that the Jet Stream had hit the ground! 'Don't think that actually happened. Here's the Lake Tahoe wind forecast: wind.willyweather.com/ca/el-dorado-county/lake-tahoe.htmlJohn

JB,
I just was watching CNN, and they reported wind gusts on some of the California mountain tops of 120 to 143 mph. WOW! So you were more correct than me. Feet of snow too…

John, check out Mount Washington, in New Hampshire: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Washington"The mountain is notorious for its erratic weather. On the afternoon of April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded a windspeed of 231 miles per hour (372 km/h) at the summit, the world record from 1934 until 1996. Mount Washington still holds the record for highest measured wind speed not associated with a tornado or tropical cyclone."190-MPH is not even close to the highest wind-speed--YIKES! JB
