Try looking for "Cadmium Yellow Medium": I have a tube of paint sitting next to my desk, and that looks right to me. The problem is that everyone's colors are so different--GRRRRR! I did a search, and they all look different too. Just trying to help... JB

Thanks JB Yes it sure does look close... Modern tanks are painted with 2K epoxy paint that 'goes off' pretty hard and resists scratches and dings but needs to be sprayed using professional equipment. There's new paint technology that enables 2K paint from a rattle can (the components are mixed in the can) and a couple of places here that will mix custom colours... if you supply the code!

If it's a paint shop, they no doubt have computerized color analyzing: strip the wrong color back to where they can get a good sample of the right one.

Maybe rebreather suppliers? Last resort I'll design my own boots and get them 3D printed in a black elastomer You are a Wild Man, Graeme!

Many thanks Fred very interesting! Where are you sourcing your R Series o-rings? Drawing a blank here in Oz, and the few places I can find them listed in the UK have a large minimum order requirement!

A couple of observations. First, concerning the tank boots, it appears that on several year's models the tank boots were connected, and formed part of the stabilizing process for the twin set. Second, and I'm sure Fred knows this, these La Spiro tank sets were never meant to have a waist strap. You will see shoulder straps on all the sets, with a crotch strap the only other strap. That is why the lower band is so low--no waist strap. I experimented with this and the La Spiro buckle system on my weight belt years ago, and it worked very, very well. Here's a photo of Jacques Cousteau with their early triple tank system, with only shoulder straps and a crotch strap into the weight belt. IMG_0205 by John Ratliff, on Flickr John

IMG_0205 by John Ratliff, on Flickr John Hello John You are right , la spirotechnique produce different twin tank assembly. The early model were sort tri with one tank less, I think the boot appears in 1966 on the twin, before it was steel band that where used for the assembly. And yes the weight belt with this particular buckle is a constant almost since the beginning, with the crotch strap. I really like to dive single or twin with this system, like this the tank stay well placed. I think that this boot type is still produced, I must look. And. Post a photo. I think the twin from Fibonacci is a 122700 model from 1965 if I Add no mistake.
