Hi all,
I joined this forum some months ago to a great welcome and thanks to some inspiration from folks here I can happily say I’m now an owner of a Vintage double hose rig, and I have dived it too!
My rig is a Nemrod Snark III silver but the hoses and mouthpiece are from what appears to be a Submarine products Sealion regulator- a fact that I actually enjoy since the mouthpieces can be replaced with modern ones and the assembly looks overall more easy to work with than the snark’s original mouthpiece.
My question is thus: since I’ve dived it only in its current condition, I would ideally like to replace the rubber hoses with more modern silicone variants. I’ve no clue where to begin, and I remember reading that Nemrod parts are uncommon as is- so I wanted to reach out for any info people may have. Given that the mouthpiece has its current hoses clamped down it seems that I could replace them with anything the right diameter?
Ultimately I’d be wanting to do a replacement of the main diaphragm and especially the duckbilll too. I enjoyed diving with it so much that I’d like to have the peace of mind of knowing it was in the best condition for plenty more fun dives ahead of me.
I’d love to post pictures soon and I’ll try to when I get he chance. Many thanks!

Another option is to replace the whole hose loop (USD type hoses and mouthpieces are available in silicone reproductions).
Respectfully,
James

Here's a partial list of USDivers parts that can be used in the Snark III and Silver. Some need to be modded.
Conshelf HP pin (cut down); phenolic washers for the HP diaphragm; phenolic washer for the nozzle; HP seat (must be slightly reduced in diameter); HP seat spring; HP seat spring carrier; HP pin support (on HP diaphragm); HP spring carrier (on HP diaphragm); main diaphragm; case retaining ring; bottom cans can be swapped between Snarks and Mistral/DA and probably some others which I have not tried.
The Scuba Museum has repro silicone exhaust valves and their single stage silicone main diaphragm fits Snark DH regs.
Graeme (Fibonacci) has LP port converters for sale.
An older model 3 part LP seat can replace the new style one piece poppets in Silvers with a mod or two.
There's a lot of info in the Snark threads here.

I use USD REPLICA SILICONE HOSES, SILICONE OR NEOPRENE, with reproduction mouthpiece, hourglass, or USD curved, with my snark III silver, and I let the original loop safe. Reproduction are very efficient and reliable. As Vance says same BOX diameter for USD, and Nemrod, but also la spirotechnique and others, I already used diaphragm from la spirotechnique, and reproduction from TSM ( the scuba museum). No duck bill, but a big mushroom valve, again reproduction could be found to TSM. ( A really good product 👍) So the only problem is always the second stage seat, but Vance could saved us with his creation. Nemrod snak3 silver is a beautiful regulator that performs very well if it is well adjust, cg43 says that German diver call this reg "the pearl" There are other threads about snak3, used just " nemrod snark" to make threads research. Enjoy Fred

Hello diver 1090
Long ago i modifyed Snark III silver with Dräger and Submarine mouthpieces . In both cases the result was freeflow if inhaled quickly . In the case of a Nemrod mouthpiece used on an french Mistral i hat bad fluctuations (oscillations) . That shows that flow resistance of mouthpiece and ventury effect must fit together .
If your Snark III silver with Submarine mouthpiece freeflows , you must tone down the venturi effect .
There is more then one way dependent on your skills and we will help you if nessesary .
Greetings Rainer

If your Snark 3 does not have a HP port you can get a reproduction long yoke and banjo from THE SCUBA MUSEUM. If you take it apart keep in mind most things are metric.

Greetings Rainer Hello Rainer , I had already, experiment things that you described, with USD hose and mouthpiece, when inhale quickly . I just prepared a seamless silver, for tomorrow, and it blasted in my mouth this time, even when inhalation is normal. Finally I changed the diaphragm (Spiro mistral) who was very soft , first I try a good old USD from a mistral ( the stuff is hard) it was really hard to breathe, than I put a silicone grey from TSM. Like this it is soft and no free flow even I inhale quickly. Inside the reg, there are pieces from Phil, a seat and his guide. I test in my workplace, and everything was in order. Tomorrow test dive... Fred

Ty had issues with the black reproduction silicone single stage diaphragm in his Dacor 2020. When he replaced it with a gray one, it worked great.
