I have never gotten into the habit of checking my pm's, and am greatly embarrassed that I have missed some as far back at at least March. Specifically, I must apologize to diverdownmarinellc, broxton coalition, probably artc, and maybe others for my oversight! Please forgive my unintentional neglect.

If it helps you to feel any better, I always forget to check the PMs, too. Worse, I forget to check the Welcome Center. I don't get notifications when new members sign on. I really need to remember to check it so I can welcome the noobs in a timely manner.

It doesn't make you a bad person... But it's awfully close How close? Do I need to make a cold deep dive in February with just a 55 degree water-filled drysuit and a half-emty Spare Air to atone for my errors?

antique diver- 55 degree water, that's warm water diving I will only play in that kind of water with drysuit, and it's not bad. But I actually had a drastic neck seal failure in February while diving with Eben when he was driving through Texas to the coast. Lot's of water came in really fast as soon as I got submerged, but I didn't want to bail out too soon on him, so I stuck with it for about 10 minutes to get some photos, then tooled around in shallow water close to exit point for another 10-15 min. He continued solo for that and another dive, and seemed to be quite comfortable in his wetsuit. In spite of the disappointing suit flood I still consider that an extraordinarily fun day with Eben and ground crewman Seawolf, and would do it again.

I have dived in 55 degree F water in a wetsuit; I don't own a dry suit anymore. But right now the water temps are the other way around, getting wark in the 100+ degree F weather. I brought my swim gear to the Tualatin River last Friday, and wanted initially to get wet, but we had a 6+ mile canoe trip before that, and my ol' body didn't want to get wet after the canoe trip. It just wanted to go home...I had done the work to get the canoe to the river on my back, and then had pulled it out of the river and with help car-topped it. So I got my workout, but still have yet to get wet.
Part of my problem about diving right now is that my wife has retired, and we do a lot of things together. This morning, I'm headed out on my Rans Stratus recumbent bicycle rather than headed to the river.

Only next time I refuse feel those two lumps under your rib cage. BTW... When we're diving in Fortune Pond, it's usually 37-41 degrees F at the 60-80 foot depths and deeper. We dive wet suits. I dive a 3mm Elios vintage 2-piece. So I have 6mm covering my "lumps"... Ha Ha. I got into diving the 3mm thickness to minimize buoyancy changes from suit compression. Here's how it works at Fortune Pond... I can feel the cold as I dive downward thru the succeeding thermocline levels. First one is at 16 feet deep. But within a few minutes, I think my skin goes numb and from then on the dive is comfortable if I don't stay down any longer than 30 minutes.

@antique diver I added a thread to the tech section about this. Check it out! And vance, I think in that same area of settings, you can choose to see when new people join the forum. Or at least that option is available to me, so I hope it is for everyone. 🙂

OK, thanks Linda!
I set my PM notifications, so that's all good. But, there's nothing available for new member notifications that I can see.
Cheers, Phil
