I have a number of European and American regs, and I have to say that of all the twin hose regs I have dived over the years the Siebe Gorman Merlin VI is the best by a long shot (its also one of the most rugged). It out performs any of the US divers regs and is more adaptable with the option of a reserve mechanism, an HP port and a hookah port that can be adapted for an LP feed. The Merlin was the Royal Navy standard issue reg prior to the introduction of the Conshelf.
Now I know that this will cause some controversy, but for people who want to dive regularly with a twin hose its worth a look! of course i'm well aware that parts supply in the states might be difficult, but spares are widely available in the UK. So if you really keen give the Merlin a go

Yes, I have a pdf of the service manual, i'll find it and send it on to you. It could take a week as I will be out of the office.

Hi
I believe this to be true also as the Siebe Gorman regulators were designed to be work horses in commercial diving industry not a recreational diving unit.
