I am looking for instructions for a small 1cfm compressor which has the name Aqua Products, Toledo Ohio stamped on it. It is about 25 pounds, electric motor powered, and came with a vintage scuba package which included an aquarius reg, and 72 cu ft steel tank.
I do not want to power it up if it needs oil or something done to it first.

You probably have the 32-R-300. It uses Chemlube 201 from Protecair.com. Aqua Products was a small oufit started up in the 1950's that converted surplus Cornelius and GE compressors. If you have the Cornelius keep it, if it's a GE just throw the whole thing away. cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CORNELIUS-AIRPLANE-PARTS-AIRCRAFT-AIR-COMPRESSOR_W0QQitemZ4624414031QQcategoryZ26439QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemOne more thing, I recommend you obtain a charcoal filter, or even better, a multiplex filter with dessicant and charcoal. If you intend to pump breathing air with just a coalescing (separator) tank, then you should fill the compressor with light weight medicinal grade mineral oil. If there is something here that you don't understand, do not operate the compressor until you become better informed about compressor theory and operation.

If you have an old military surplus compressor set up for filling dive cylinders, use it. NONE of them were made for that purpose originaly but they do the job nicely. You will need a seperator, to take the water and oil mix out of the air, and a charcoal filter to purify the air, removing any residual taste, or the condensate not removed by the seperator. You can run synthetic motor oil in these. If its a 1 cfm, it will take you an hour and a half to fill a flat tank. Think carefully before you invest in a seperator, and purifier, as they will cost more than your compressor. I have an original cornelius 3501 which makes great air, with NO oil in the condensate. It goes to 3000 psi. It takes 40 minutes to fill a flat 72. If your not in a hurry, go out, eat a pizza and when you get home, your tank will be filled! What a deal. ;D

While reading a thread on compressors and air contamination on another board, I found a link to an interesting article on yet another board that describes filters and how they work... thedecostop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10085
