Tonight was my second dive on my Mistral. I noticed that early in the dive when the tank pressure was high, it was loud, as the tank pressure got a little lower it got quieter. I was doing a Manta Dive in Kona which meant I was staying upright most of the time and the Mistral breathed as good as any of my "newer" single hose regulators. Head down it is harder to breath. I also noticed that it would occasionally gurgle, I would do a roll to clear it and the gurgle would go away. Maybe I need to tighten a hose clamp a little more. I did get some strange looks from some of the other divers.

You may have a cage valve leaking on the exhaust side or a leaking duckbill or a hose clamp is loose. You should not really be getting a gurgle. I have encountered this using certain non original silicone valves in the cages. I pretty much ignore it since they breath so much better but what happens is that water pooled in the exhaust hose leaks back into the mouthpiece in certain positions. If your duckbill is bad or if it is new but perhaps was trimmed a little to aggresively it may be leaking.
