Well, I got my first set of yellow hoses several weeks ago. Not only are they my first set, they are also first-rate ;D
I put them on my Mistral and they just look right with that yellow label. Thankyou "mossback" Michael for making them available.
Here's what I found out about them. The rubber seems very durable. I checked them for pin holes and thin areas, and they checked out just fine. I've dived with them on several dives and have even received some compliments on how visible and noticeable the yellow is.
They are a little longer than my standard black hoses, which works fine for me since I wear my regulators so low. I noticed that head turning was less restricted, but I didn't notice any additional breathing resistance over the standard length.
Now, I love these for every day use, especially on my Mistral. They look good, feel good, and are made to last. They don't have the seams or the rounded convolutions of the original hoses so they probably wouldn't win a prize at a vintage dive show (they aren't reproductions), but they get 1st place from me for functionality and appearance. Here they are on my Mistral with one of Dan's outstanding reproduction straight mouthpieces (you'll see what I mean):
I even wore them in my Advanced Diver class dives this last weekend (more on that in another thread):
If you're interested in a set or two (or more) of functional and, dare I say, beautiful hoses at a reasonable price, then contact Michael "mossback" about them. I think there are still some available.
