Before I got my Divair, I was looking at Basic Scuba, geeking out and noticed that the Divair and the Scuba had similar valve seats: from Fred Roberts drawings, I thought they might be the same. From the image, it's obvious they are not, but are VERY close, so close in fact, that I think a bushing/sleeve can be made so that the Healthways will work in the Divair: it will fit inside the nozzle being held in place by the sintered filter! It also looks like the old worn out HW seat might work as the have two different diameter seating areas Jaybird

Dang: time to make the sleeve! Once I got it together again and tested it a second time, it started leaking... Fred Roberts says in Basic Scuba that you can turn the seat while it's in the nozzle to reseat it: I tried it once, but will try again. Also, the sintered filter is not a standard size: it's a few thousandths larger... Jaybird

Dang, sometimes I surprise myself at being able to size things up! I made a temporary shim out of an old credit card, which is the ideal size, optimal I should say! I'll get the specs on that later, but I measured the diameter, cutting it a bit small to get it in and out easier. I put it all together with the old Healthways/Sportsways seat and it does hold air: no leakage! I'm going to have a sleeve made for it that should slip right in, "No fuss, no muss, no bother".
Also, I'm using the fiberglass discs off of a Healthways diaphragm to build my diaphragm, and yes, I am using a silicone-swimming cap to do it: should be just right!

Here are my specs. for the insert sleeve: I hope y'all have kept your old Healthways valve seats! This part just slips right into the HP-nozzle. You will either have to shim up the new seat or get a new spring... Jaybird

Here's the new specs. What was actually made. The diameter of the bore is .5", but since I wanted it to come out easily, I made it just a bit smaller: I didn't want to get it in there and never be able to get it out, like checking to see if it was right, "Dang, too long... How the devil do we get it out?" Jaybird

I decided to shim it instead of getting a new spring, hence the two washers in the image. I also still need to polish the inside smooth... The red mark on the valve seat was my way of ear-marking the bad seat, so I could ID it quickly from the good one: no need for glasses! Jaybird

I figured out how to adjust these danged things! My first attempt left me thinking, "Dang, what the heck's wrong with this, is the valve seat that critical..." Adjust the height of the primary lever by turning the screw in the middle "primary" (D25 in Basic Scuba): this is done with the reg not attached to the tank: it can be seen as a bit of gold under the secondary lever. The thing you're doing is getting some height on the primary, which in turn is adding height to the secondary lever: you want to adjust these to until your secondary lever is about 5/8" off the deck where the primary adjuster is. The secondary adjustment screw, the outer one in the image acts as a stop for the height, but also adjusts the height of the primary lever too: the fulcrum is the "valve pin" (D26)! Once you have these set roughly, you can then adjust the air flow. 1 You may be able to get more height from the levers, but I have yet to get my home made diaphragm on it! 2 Both the primary and secondary screws can be used to adjust the air flow sensitivity: this is the tricky part. It's not pretty yet, but it is working now! Also, the air horns ARE NOT standard size: you MUST use Healthways hoses on this reg! I think they're 1.25, fortunately, I have two sets of hoses for it... Jaybird

I'm really curious about the exhalation resistance in the DivAir regulator, as there is no exhalation valve in the box; is it easier?

On dry land, it's VERY easy; the only resistance is the Hope-Page, almost like the Conshelf-XII and Calypso-VI! Playing with all of my DH's dry, just exhalation effort the Divair seems to have the least, followed by Healthways blue label, Voit VCR-5 then the Gold Label?!?!?!? The gold and blue labels should be the same I need to loo into that Jaybird
