My LDS stated several months ago that weight belts are outdated and aren't really useful anymore because you can put the weight in the BCD. This sounds like a load of garbage.
WHY! Why did the BCD have to come and ruin everything! Why can't people nowadays dive like streamlined sea creatures!

Tell him that you will throw all his belts away, for him. Wink wink. Especially those clunky old 6 and 8 pound hunks of nasty un-environmentally friendly globs of lead. That you, and your vintage buddies, will dispose of them properly Some cannot turn away from the kool-aid TD. Just go with it. DD

I also hate to say, but the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy is a rip-off. Payed several hundred bucks for 1 dive and zero skills... I still can't get my weight right.

I'm still going to buy a welt belt and get some weights. Just maybe not from them . Weight in diving has existed since that 1880s and weight belts have also existed that long. To think we will just make them extinct, it doesen't make sense. TD

Wellllllllllllllllllll, if you really wanna mess with 'im: tell him that you're going to get a horse collar BC! Just watch him blow a gasket telling you how dangerous they are, and your response should only be:
"Really, so all those military personnel who use them are all nutz then--thanks, I'll file that away under advisement..."

I carried a "weight-integrated" setup (that's what they're called) for a buddy once. Pretty handy to have the reg, cylinder, BC, gauges and weights all in one package. "Once" was the key word! I think that might be when I herniated my disc . Crazy, man, craaaaaazy.

I've used those, and they are terrible to carry. Not to mention, terrible to use. The BCDs nowadays are like backpacks. Too big for my liking, so I think I'll pickup a horse collar BCD. Any good manufacturers?

Horse collars are the only way to go! I started with them moved away from them in the 80s and now I am right back with a Sea tech so simple.

I should mention that these really cool older ones usually need a restoration. Some like these two just need to have their C02 detonators replaced: BTW these were both made by SeaQuest I can elaborate if need be... JB
