Yes, that's true. I've looked at that set up and lusted for it for some time. I don't have 2 of the 3/4 inch bottles that you'd need. This might be the way to go in the future, but I have high hopes for my adapter. I'd prefer to go with one 72 cf bottle rather than the doubles.

I know what you are talking about; doubles of most types are pretty heavy too! John

Here's my adapter for the Y valve, which allows mounting a single hose first stage in conjunction with a single stage double hose regulator (or 2 stage, if desired). The clearance requirements dictated mounting the sh first backward, so it doesn't stab you in the back. It works, and as you can see, with certain first stages, a complete setup can be carried, giving a safe second, HPG with compass and depth gauge, and bc inflator hose. I assembled it from parts obtained from a compressor and machine supplier. The elbow is rated for 6K psig, FYI. The rather too hefty yoke and yoke screw look like they would handle a billion psig, as does the block. They are not lightweight pieces, and were not cheap. It does the trick, though. I may try using a more svelte vintage yoke with it, but that will require some adapting. Not all firsts will fit or allow convenient hose angles. My ScubaStar HP port sticks straight up into the machinery, and won't work without some adapting. The Calypso red label is not even close to workable, Dacor Balanced is way too big, etc. However, the Scubair is a good fit using a swivel T, and is the reg you see mounted with the Mistral.

I got a bare Nemrod first (it looks exactly like the Healthways ScubaStar first) to carry the spg and bc inflator, and I've changed sides. Now the doublehose is on the right and the s-h first on the left. If I use the s-h first w/o a second stage, I'll need a relief valve, correct? I might just use a second stage, but I kinda don't want to.

I dove the adapter in Monterey a couple of weeks ago. I dove it with a Healthways GL double hose and a Scubair single hose. The Scubair provided the SPG and inflation for my Scubapro horsecollar. All worked perfectly! I didn't use the Snark this time, since I was looking for a lower placement than the Snark will do, and it's getting converted to carry the second and BC inflator on its own. I started another thread concerning using USD parts for the Snark III and the adapter for LP ports: vintagescuba.proboards.com/thread/4627/snark-iii-substitute-parts
