My LDS has no intention of stocking them, goes back quite a ways and has no bad feelings about 2 hosers. He owns a gold Royal. among others and had a low opinion of the new reg.

So besides the one or two, has anyone else bought one of these new mistrals? ? What is the feeling? Are they worth it or just a lame fad? Let us hear from all u others out there that bought this 600 dollar reg from USD.........I want to buy one but need to hear from u guys to get me to take the plunge...... Well I took the plunge, mine should be here tomorrow I hope I have read both pro and con's on the reg on the scubabord and thedecostop forms ( I posted to get opinions also ) it seems it breathe's a little better then the orig's (good enough in my book) and you have to have the correct swimming positon. I also sopke with Aqualung and was told the made only 1,000 lit ed models and I think 3 or 5,000 of the reg models and they were going to see how the sell if they don't do well they may discontinue it so it may or may not be a wise buy. I know when Apeks made the Black Pearl nobody wanted them because of price now no one can find them. I also dive in NJ so all the ports it has are nice for when I go dry. If I get it I will give it try on a shore dive wed or thru and let you know. Ed

Hola' Amigos, I have a NEW Mistral and while it's really cool I just bought a new more powerful desk top computer and few more photo toys So if someone wants it, I'll sell it. It's only been dived once in OW last weekend. I'll take $600.00 plus shipping and insurance to your location. Sorry about this post for selling (as it's not "vintage".) Otherwise it'll be listed on Ebay tonight for a 5 day auction and will likely go for more! Plus I'm gone from May 28 - June 11th on two back to back dive trips I'm running. Out of my office today, in tonight. Leave an email or phone message and I'll get back to you. Thanks! I have a new Mistral and have found that the configuration of the first and second stage and the connecting hose prevent it and the hoses from sitting level when you have double tanks. Hopefully it won't mess up the mouthpiece orientation. I plan to dive it for the first time Friday with my twin 50s and my triple 30s. I also have my Royal Aqua Master all set up now with an LP adapter and a banjo fitting so I will be seeing how it works. Be able to compare the two.

Today I spent a couple of hours in the pool at the LDS (heated to 87F ;D) and tried out my new Mistral. First, I need to clarify what I said about double tanks. It does not fit level on my USD solid manifold since the outlet is on the bottom, providing less room between the tanks and the manifold. A twin manifold with the outlet on the top would work fine. I used it with the twin 50s and all the criticism notwithstanding, it breathes great. I found only one position where breathing was difficult and that was vertical, head down. I also used my Royal Aqua Master with my triple 30s. The banjo fitting and LP adapter worked pefectly and the reg breathed just as good at the Mistral in the vertical head up and horizontal swimming positions. I used the triples with the new bands, a steel backplate and harness. it worked much better than with the Zeagle BC I used before, since the regulator was much closer to my back. I used my Sunfish BC. I found with the new harness and backplate the hoses on both regulators were long enough for a comfortable mouthpiece position and no restriction on turning one's head. I also used both my Churchill XL fins and my Super XL Duckfeet (original tan). I found the Churchill fins very comfortable, but the Duckfeet give you far more power, and with 3mm socks, there was no cramping or discomfort. The new Mistral is a nice performing regulator, but so is the Royal Aqua Master, and I still like the looks of the Royal Aqua Master better. All in all, an enjoyable couple of hours.
