Every Xmas and birthday, DD and I exchange gifts, so this birthday, yesterday, I got this: He knows I have a real weakness for anything Tekna or Farallon, as they were a SF Bay Area company: this was very, very generous of him to be sure. Does anyone have a manual for it? I'm guessing that's a deco computer on the back side with the knife: also, there's a metal wheel on the side of the case?!?!?!? JB

Not sure what you will find in a manual. That tiny thing is a dive timer, no computing, just time at depth. The metal wheel sets the zero-point of the depth gauge. The idea was to make it altitude adjustable. There have been posts on this site about why that isn't quite right. The compass is cute. I've never opened one up to replace a battery. It might be sealed. Good Dives, Charlie

I sent you on a wild goose chase, JB. I hope you don't mind That timer, like the one Charlie has, does not have a replaceable battery. I've made more than one attempt only to break the plastic. There were two designs that I am aware of. The original style which you and Charlie have, and a later one whose timer has a replaceable battery. Over the years I have stumbled across exactly two that have had replaceable batteries. One didn't work and the other is very cherished by me. In fact I took it to Crystal Falls this weekend. The little silver zero dial comes in handy. As for the timer, it reads time and the top square tells surface interval. On mine the small box on the left gives you the number of dives. I'll try and take clear pics of mine but its small so no guarantees. Enjoy buddy! DD

Looks like my gut was right on this one. Being a teen of the 80's, I actually have a small growing interest in diving gear from this era. Mark

Except for my drysuit, my whole kit from one of my dives this weekend was 80s gear. Tanks: Triple USD ABS, Reg: 3rd gen MK5 109, Fins: Jetfins (non-lightning bolt model), Gauges: like JBs there and yes, even the mask. Rubber coated bullet weights. Heck, I was even wearing my KISS Lick it Up concert tee underneath my drysuit DD
