Yeah, this is what I meant. From what I gathered, JB had never seen a button like the machined one (nor I until I got one in a Scuba recently), and I don't think Mark (and possibly John) had seen the stamped one. Now John is saying, I think, that he has some that are machined, but have no groove. Hopefully he will post a pic. Phil

Uff-da! Got in really late from he airport this morning--tired My brain is working a little bit still: I can't help but wonder if these compensators were yet another invention of our buddy Diver Dick Anderson? JB

Mark, good fer you buddy: not bad fer a 60-year old economy regulator, huh? I wonder how many engineers thought people would still want to use their gear more than half a century later? That's the thing about good design: yes, it can be improved, but it's always safe to use JB

I've spent the day making duckbills. They're blue. So, Mark, they'll match those elusive blue hoses you covet! We'll see if they work. It's cold here, so silicone sets up SLOW. They are the dipped version, and are coming out kina lumpy. BUT! They mought could be workable. I'm just sayin'. Phil

I'd love to see a repro of the exhaust diaphragm available someday. The piece of rubber glove I have in there is working, but I'm considering playing with a piece of rubber from inner tube just for something heavier. Then again, this works so far, so might just quit whilst ahead. As for the duckbill, I have a finger from a rubber glove in there, it would be nice to have something more closer to the real thing though. Mark

If it were not the hassle (and really not that much drama considering) of fabricating an exhaust diaphragm and ersatz duckbill out of a rubber glove (I'm very grateful that the wire diaphragm clamp was still present in mine), the Healthways SCUBA was a very easy regulator to rebuild and get diving again. If those crucial parts were available as repro, this regulator would be great for people wanting to get into diving with vintage double hose regs., or at least that is my opinion? Mark

I'm posting this mainly for Mark, just to contribute to his feelings of "hose envy". These belong to Jeff up in BC. He makes the diaphragms for the DivAir, among other things. He is able to make 1 inch hoses, but does not have a spiral hose mold. He said he will figure out a matching blue color to make some for the Scuba, but isn't planning a spiral hose, yet. He told me he's making a mold for a replica Hope Page mouthpiece!

So Jeff let me know he will be making 1 inch hoses in different colors. They aren't spiral hoses, but he'll have black, blue, yellow, whatever you want. Any interest out there? Phil

I would be interested, and would prefer "super-flex" hoses too. I think my preference is yellow, as while orange is a great color (my Oregon State University colors), it becomes black at depth in natural light. Yellow stands out, even at depth in natural light. But if orange is the color, it would also match my orange tanks.

Just thinkin' out loud here, but... original styled mouthpieces and different colored dust-caps would be totally, utterly and completely boss OK John, in that case if yer gunna do orange and black for the Beavers, then I'll need to have blue and yellow for Cal' JB Of course you know, I'm gunna sneak over to yer house one day an' put a yellow and a green hose on your reg
