JB That is a good trick. I didn't think of using on a regulator, but that's how you remove a wrist pin from a piston on an Evinrude outboard. Throwing the piston/rod combo in the oven at 400 for about a half an hour the aluminum piston expands more than the steel wrist pin, thus making removal simple. I can see how it would work here too. Thanks

Being a good mechanic is a lot of fun sometimes: it's knowing when to walk away and not get too angry! Asking questions helps too... A poor mechanic will respond with anger and frustration that can only be reflected back onto themselves and will lead to the destruction of what hey are trying to fix: all too often people confuse perseverance with this JB

JB That's one reason I'm thankful for this site, people are willing to share their knowledge and experience so those of us who are new at fixing our own gear can learn the right way to do things. I've run into another small issue on this NED twin hose. I was able to get a NOS IP diaphragm assembly but the hardware is different from mine so I'm trying to take the locknut off to swap the new rubber onto the old hardware. Is there a particular method to get that locknut off without using a Dremel tool to cut the nut.
Thanks

Do you mean the HP-diaphragm? To the best of my knowledge it should just unscrew: it's the big thick sucker like the early HW's had, right? It may be frozen in from salt water... If it was mine and I was getting desperate, I'd cut the old diaphragm off, then use some penetrating oil/fluid on both sides, letting it sit at the very least one whole day. If that still duznt werk, cut it off! If you bugger that one up, I may have an extra one for you JB

I'd like to see how different it is. You may not need to bother changing the hardware if the pin actuating button is the same or is the same height from the surface of the diaphragm.

JB There is no host site. I'm trying to go from the Photos folder on my computer. I think that's what my problem is. I think I need to upload them to a Google photos or similar site. I'll have to setup an account with one.

Hmmmm? I think you can use the one you've got the nut backed out of: that raised area keeps the spring centered, much more gooder!
