It's interesting in that Scandinavia isn't having the same problems as we are having in the States. They are not the most social people in the world, and as a culture they just naturally social-distance themselves. In the mid-90's I had a girlfriend who was Swedish, I'm a super affectionate person, and so when we would walk around holding hands it was kinda like the ending of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"...

I am due to have my second COVID-19 injection this Friday. My first was the Pfizer inoculation and the UK National Health Service policy seems to be that the second vaccine used should be the same as the first. My other ambition in the short term is to get a haircut and beard trim, as I now resemble Father Christmas after four months of non-access to a barber. Today the salons have reopened. The problem remains that everybody else is in the same boat and hairdressers' waiting lists here reportedly stretch as far as June. DRW I got my first haircut in over a year last week. And she cut it close too, so I'm now good until October. Until then, every three months or so I cut it myself using a old-style straight edge razor. The first time I did it, I got my ear a bit, and so I put the guard on it the next times. John

Puke if you're like, but here in Florida we are pretty much open. Things are good. After all it is not a vaccine. It is genetic therapy, experimental at that.Thankfully we haven't all drunk the cool aid.

But looking at the State of Florida statistics, I'm not sure you can be optimistic, especially if everyone is acting like the pandemic is over there. New Cases by Day (Florida): floridahealthcovid19.govBy the way, the COVID-19 vaccine is a vaccine, by definition. It is made differently, using mRNA fragments. But the body does recognize it, and makes antibodies to it, which will attack a COVID-19 virus. This, by the way, is the definition of a vaccine. John

As for being new tech, no, hardly... It's been around for a long time, what's new about it is that it hasn't been used on this scale: we've never needed to.
As an aside: at one point, the Smallpox and Polio-vaccines were a "new-technology" when they came out! I for one have never seen a modern case of either of these menaces, although they still happen in places where there is a lack of healthcare. I have actually met people who got Polio in the 1950's...
Los Angeles County, CA
Confirmed cases: 1,189,530
Deceased: 23,729
Cook County
Confirmed cases: 52,5854
Deceased: 9,860
Cook County, IL
Confirmed cases: 52,5854

Alameda County
Confirmed cases: 85,762
Deceased: 1,249
Dade County, FL
Confirmed cases: 47,5231
Deceased: 6,077
Isn't it, er-ah-um, odd that there have been more deaths in Dade County than Alameda County... perhaps not! JB

This is a sensitive subject.
I hope that everyone here will refrain from making statements that are not backed by science. Everyone has the right to believe what they wish, but no one should post anything related to the Covid outbreak that is not backed up by scientific evidence.

Perhaps these issues don't belong here?

Well, I’m sure glad that my new friends on here “drank the Kool-Aid*” Scubamastefano, I’m curious how you would reply to my friend, who wrote this on Facebook: “Prayers for my son, Michael, who just recently was diagnosed with covid, and is now in the hospital. I love you Mike.” What would you say to her? John

I’m just mocking the hoaxer statement, and am saying that I am happy to hear many of you guys have received your vaccine.
I’m very sorry to hear about your friend, John 😔

For those who may not have thought about it, here’s the Wiki definition of “Drinking the Kool-Aid”: But folks associated with USAF Pararescue have a rather different thought on it, as it was in part a Pararescue unit which responeded and had to process the 918 bodies from the Jim Jones mass suicide. news.yahoo.com/u-military-had-clean-jonestown-144847718.htmlJohn

Sorry, I got the wrong person in the heading. I’ll correct that here.
Seabob,
What would you say to my friend?

PY, I really and truly appreciate what you're saying here, but... There is too much disinformation out there: staying complacent/silent on the subject is very dangerous right now. As much as I like this forum, I will take a safe/healthy country over it any day-- SIGH!JB

I was at the local Walmart on Sunday picking up a prescription, the woman who was getting my order asked if I had received the covid vaccine yet? When I replied "no" she asked if I wanted one ask they had extras that day. She looked shocked when I replied "No thank you". At this point I'm going to pass on getting one. No criticizing anyone who chose to get it, just my personal preference.
