I have a few new tilt valves, and some Sportsways and Healthways regs that use them. I would like to determine what these fit, but my bench is covered up with too many other projects to open them up right now. Hoping maybe someone can help ID them. If they look familiar I can provide some dimensions if that helps. I'm kicking around an idea for making some new ones based on these dimensions if any of these match popular models.

The one on the right looks like a Sportsways, and the one in the center looks like a Healthways. I believe they are interchangeable.
The left one dunno. Nemrod?

I believe PY is correct...

Thanks Phil and JB. I'll base my prototype on something that may fit both, but using the longer stem since it can be shortened as needed.

Bill, I should note that, though the one on the left will work, it is a very tight fit in the spring that goes in both the HW and SW.

I had a thought about a simple solution: just glue a thin silicone disk over the old seat?

PY, I have yet to find any glue that that will hold the seat on: these original seat were vulcanized on... So to quote myself:
"I'm pretty sure a new seat can be bonded to an old valve.
My thought is to use a piece of thick sheet stock, 1/8" with a hole 1/16" drilled "straight" through: this is the jig. You'll need to make a new soft seat with a hole: place the soft seat on the end of the valve with a bit protruding, that will go into the hole of the jig.
With a torch, you'll need to get the valve end very hot, the idea here is to vulcanize the soft seat on. Once the valve end is sufficiently hot, push the shaft through the hole of the jig, then add some sort of weight on top of it until it cools sufficiently to touch...
This should work..."
As with gluing vinyl, it ain't strong enough: vulcanization, if I remember correctly is on a molecular level, which is why good tires usually don't fall apart while you're driving them.
Perhaps if James and bill can come up with something where the soft seat is held in with a flange, like a down stream-valve, it should work, but there's a lot of lateral stress put on the seat as it tilts.
JB
EDIT: if you look at Bills image you can see where the seat has melted and stuck to the shaft in order to secure it on thoroughly.

You forget about the Wonder Glue!

I think a good test would be to try it, then see if you can get it off just using your fingers JB

I just dug a puck out of a USD horseshoe. Never tried to dig the seat out of a tilt valve (except a Snark III seat which isn't really a tilter). I wonder how that would go. Looks smaller than a USD puck.

Looks smaller than a USD puck. Interesting thought. I may give heat a try to see if it will melt or burn out, leaving a place to insert a new thinly sliced rubber disc. Right now I am putting the finishing touches on a couple of experimental tilt valves. Photos soon.

These experimental units started out as the items you see on the left side of first photo. Just tried one in my Healthways Scuba Star, and it seems to work well... but I do need a new and softer diaphragm.

HOLYMOLY, Bill--those're BE-OOO-TEEE-FUL! JB Thank you! They sure ate up a lot of labor time, but should get a couple of more regs in working condition if I find or make some diaphragms.

Huh, I think I can do the one using the HP-seat: did you burn the seat out?
