The Sea-Vue didn't let any water in, but it did leak air from the swivel point. Over twenty-ish minutes it dropped about 200 psi or so at 25-30 ft. Just my luck for not ending up with the time to go by the dive shop. New O-rings or a new spool must be required. Pretty sure that's a brass on brass compression fitting. Probably just needs cleanup and polishing. My 2psi. I have both types. Some of them are that compression fitting (good to know they just need cleaned and polished. Any grease?) while this one has a spool in it. Iโll get some pictures up here in a bit. Jacob

Jacob, a film of grease couldn't hurt as it might help fill up some of the irregularities where the two surfaces meet, but usually just polish them JB

I've never used silicone (or any other kind of grease) on a brass compression fitting. I try to avoid silicone grease on all high-pressure connections just in case someone accidentally puts something with a high O2 % instead of just air. However, the up side is that the silicone dioxide left over from the combustion can be used as a caking-agent for spices. ๐

If itโs a brass-on-brass compression fitting, such as my U.S. Divers doubles manifold, I never have used any silicone grease (or other additive) on that fitting. I use a cloth to rub it to remove any dirt, but the compression itself should do the trick. I recently changed out the Scubapro manifold with O-ring seals, as it was leaking, with my older U.S. Divers double manifold, tightened it down, and itโs not leaking at all.

Congratulations on a successful rebuilt and test dive, Jacob. Even if you have a little leak it is a great result! Isn't it a great feeling to have saved another vintage reg from the skip?
An Aquarius isn't a highly sought after antique just yet, but it will be before long. It's a high quality regulator that deserves to be rebuilt and used.
Vintage single hose scuba bits of this age are in the most danger of being tossed out b/c people see they don't sell for much. I hope you youngsters salvage all of these that you can. You can buy them for almost no money!
I feel like I've done my part vis-a-vis pound puppy rescues by rebuilding and reselling a couple of hundred DH regs over the past 10 years through various markets. I haven't made any $$ at it. EBay has, on my efforts. But, it is a labor of love.
All I want to do is recoup my costs. If I make a few bucks, it gets plowed back into parts and materials.
I have little (near zero) interest in SH regs, unless they can be converted to DH somehow. So the rescue of the early single hose regulator is on the rest of you. I turned 72 today. I'm still going strong, but you younger guys need to take up the mantle!

Thanks, JB. I'm not getting better, just older!
Wait, is that how the saying goes?

Happy belated birthday Phil, and many thanks!
I actually quite like single hose regulators, partly for many of the reasons you express. For whatever reason, I'm quite drawn to piston regulators โ this might just be due to the fact that an idiot can rebuild them and O-rings are always going to be available. Lately I've found myself wanting a Scubapro Mk 2 or 3 to play with, even though I have a Mk V I need to get around to working on.
As an aside, I got new O-rings on my Sea-Vue's spool today โ no more leak! Just need a new seat for the Aquarius and it should(!) be good to go.

Jacob Back in the day, we used to buy generic unbalanced piston HP seats. They aren't specifically from US Divers, but may fit. I've got a drawer full of them. Due to the current state of the industry, I can't use them. If you send me your address, I'll mail you a few (dozen?). Good Dives, Charlie
