John, how far out does that stick out when it's on the tank? Seems like it wouldn't go down far enough for good breathing, yes, no? They already sit up a bit high because of the valve placement. Just making conversation...

Just making conversation... JB Jaybird, They actually have two different configurations for the Snark IV. One is on its side precisely to minimize the height of the regulator: Go to the link above to our other thread, and you should find information on how to contact the inventors in Turkey. John

I'm going to experiment with different horn configurations to get the reg lower down. This might switch the exh/int horns, but roll left, roll right, what's the big deal? I think the Snark Silver has super potential!

Hey guys first my apologies for not being on much lately. Life has been very hectic the past couple of months since our local gas company blew up parts of 3 cities mine being one of them. I'm back to starting to find time to work on the old Snark III. My question today is on the adjusting side of the HP diaphragm Nemrod shows a rubber and a phenolic washer. Can the phenolic washer be cleaned and reused, can I make a replacement for the rubber washer from a silicone sheet, or is there a washer that will work that's readily available. Thanks guys

John PS, 'Hope your city is doing better. It sounds like you've been working hard to make things better there.

Thanks John I'll clean that up and reuse it.
Things have been rough around here. I'm one of the lucky people I was without heat or hot water (I still don't have a stove for cooking) for only six weeks. Many people still don't have heat or hot water, last night it was 21 degrees here, tonight its going to snow and next week we could see single digit temps at night.

YIKES--I'm so sorry to hear that bruddah! My wife was telling me they were having that problem in Woburn, MA a few months ago. Evidently the lines that carry the gas were getting over pressurized, and... I'll just leave it at that--SIIIGH! From my experience, the phenolic-washers are only there to allow the holder-downers to turn freely when tightening them, this would be opposed to being in contact with the rubber and possibly having it distort. Dacor used a very thin stainless steel washer, as opposed to those super fragile ones used by Aqualung. Not having the regulator in hand I can't say this is the application, but it probably is JB

I'm sorry, but I don't know or don't remember where you are! There are a few places around suffering from weather/climate problems right now. I hope it improves for you soon! I'm fortunate, since I'm only living with dense smoke clouds from the Paradise Camp Fire. Count your blessings, I guess! I'm inconvenienced, since I have to stay indoors, but at least I HAVE an indoors to stay in! Phil

Thanks Phil, I'll stack the washers and eliminate the rubber one. JB The Woburn incident (about 15 miles from me) they over pressurized some lines, it impacted about 300 homes. it was caught early enough that minimal damage was done and everybody had their gas restored in a couple of days. The Lawrence, Andover, North Andover over pressurization incident (which I'm part of)occurred Sept 13, it impacted about 8000 homes. At one point there were upwards of 80 homes burning at the same time. They've had to replace 46 miles of pipe, every meter on every property and every gas appliance hooked up to their system (furnace, water heater, dryer, gas fireplace, stove etc.) Currently about 40% of the customers have their heat restored. Phil be safe out there, if it gets cold here we can put more clothes on....there's little you can do when a fire of that magnitude gets close.

Thanks JB. I'm Ok, I was mostly inconvenienced, not being able to cook and having to drive to my girlfriends to shower. But I have heat and hot water now so I'm good. Others around here aren't so lucky. I can get back to playing with vintage SCUBA toys. Maybe get some of my triples dive ready, finish the Snark 3's and the Sportsways single hosers…...
