I'm sure it's one of their props that they use to convince people they've been in the diving business for a long time... At their San Francisco location they have a Northill that I just about poo'ed myself over: I know the owner would never part with that either JB

DD It would be awesome to find a complete system with the original regulator, gauge and fill hose stuff still there. I wouldn't be too worried about the housing. I'd probably part with my spare housing if needed...

I agree, it would be awesome. It's a bucket list item for sure. There needs to be two of them in Fortune Pond side by side! Someday (soon) I hope to have one.

Since there is a lot of interest in the UDS-1, I thought I'd share some of the modifications I have made to mine. The first problem I encountered had to do with the filler hose assembly. It is made of aluminum, and not made to handle pressure. The threads stripped due to a problem with that non-return valve in the filler line, which malfunctioned (happened a lot, I understand), and kept the line pressurized at 3000 psig. So I used an old gauge, took the gauge off it, plugged it, and then after filling attached it to the hose. This is what the unit looked like after this modification. I dove it this way for a number of years. The handles are a weak point at the top of the case, so I reinforced them with an aluminum rod and some glue. This does nothing to the outside, but makes these handles much, much stronger. John

Here is a close up of my original UDS-1 regulator. Clearly see it was made for this with UDS-1 clearly on the center decal.

This is the fill hose fitting and hose with the swivel at the bottom of the fitting. This is the part that is normally broken. The round plug in the background screws into the hole in the yellow plastic housing and it also gets screwed into the center of the fill fitting to keep water and other stuff out when not filling the tanks.

That does it: I'm coming right over and confiscating that health and safety hazard... (I seriously doubt I could even lift that thing in my condition!) Very cool, thanks for sharing that little tidbit! JB
