For those still interested in the UDS-1 units, we are getting close to a fix for those leaking fill hoses... I just picked up another fill hose and when we get it figured out I will get a spare one fixed to help others get them back in the water. We have found a company now that will hydro and Eddy test the tanks and put the VE stamp along side the hydro stamp.

Here's a great picture from this weekend's dive at Fortune Pond showing my fully functional UDS-1 in action.

DD: I totally agree with you! The field of depth makes the image work JB

Short video wearing my custom made wet suit looking like a 1974 US divers wet suit. The UDS-1 plastic housing contains triple tanks.

My machinist friend just got done making some missing parts for my 2nd UDS-1 unit I'm putting together. These are washers and custom collared nuts that hold the tank bands to the plastic housing and also the webbing to the plastic housing. Also pictured are the round knobs that hold the fill hose to the side of the plastic housing. I had him make a spare one so if you're missing one... (SeaRat) get in touch with me. These are made of Stainless Steel.

I'm so glad you're doing this--REALLY! It tuely bothers me that people are terrified to make theirs dive-ready/capable. I get excited when I see something that not many people have, and use them JB

These are made of Stainless Steel. I hear you, and rather than PMing you, I will discuss the problems with my UDS-1 here a bit later. It needs a hydro, but also work on the filler hose and a few other things. I am hoping to do some of this locally, but may need to send my cylinders to your hydro facility too. It is the check valve on the filler hose that leaks, so I had to put this together and let the hose remain pressurized. The threads of this are also stripped. Also, the fitting that it screws into has a very small metal tube that broke off, so this entire hose needs to be replaced. For those wh o don't know, the UDS-1 has a unique manifold-first stage system that will out-perform any unit now on the market because of its huge openings from the tanks, and a very unique integrated first stage. I regularly dove mine with a Scubapro AIR-1 second stage, which teamed up the then best performing second stage with this unique system. For those who have not seen the insides of the UDS-1, here's what it looks like. Thanks, John

SeaRat,
We will have a solution to the fill hose problem soon. I have a spare fill hose now and when Herman gets done modifying the other ones he would be able to do the same thing to my spare. Don has my hydro'd tanks right now for Eddy Current testing. I should have them back very soon. I sure would like to get my 2nd UDS-1 working by the next time we dive at Fortune Pond!!

My 2nd UDS-1 triples unit is on to the final assembly now. I have all the parts I need to dive it again. I just replaced the Schrader valve in the fill hose and now it no longer leaks out of the fill hose. Herman fixed the swivel end too on the fill hose. I had Alan make a custom harness for it, now I just need to assembly the whole thing and I hope to dive it in two weeks at Fortune Pond.
