Yeah, the double exhaust valve concept had me confused. The effort they put into the exhaust diaphragm and all the sheetmetal work it required didn't make any sense to me, given there is a duckbill in the horn. I understand what they were trying to do and why after all the 'splainin'. I also understand why they abandoned it so quickly. A good silicone duckbill could have all of us "Scuba 1.0" enthusiasts diving them without leakage problems and no inner tubes would have to be harmed! It really doesn't seem like it would be that hard to make one.... The problem was that at that time, the use of the duckbill was patented, and U.S. Divers Company held that patent in the USA. Healthways had to come up with an entirely unique exhaust system. John

I just bought another Scuba rev1, minus the hose loop, off eBait yesterday. Appears to be from Rob at The Scuba Museum. This one has the old style body ring with the loose nut instead of the captured threads.
I have another Scuba project sitting in a friend's garage down south that I haven't seen yet, as well. I bought these for parts, but they will probably get refurbed, since that's what I seem to do. I also have one complete rebuilt Scuba "fer divin'" as JB might say. I'm looking forward to the rain and cold to abate so I can get it wet in Monterey.
This makes the 4th Scuba I've stumbled across, as I sold one I refurbed last year. There seem to be a number of us who have working Scubas in the collection. That's pretty cool!

Phil, do you know any good place to get a HW MP either repro or original? Thanks, TD

Hey TD, TheScubaMuseum.com had them, and I assume will get more sometime. Dang. I'll need a couple myself. I'm always looking for Hope Page mps for my Scubas. I have two HPs now, but way more regs than mps. Good luck! Phil

Now if I could find just a set of the valve cages (aka "wagon wheels"). I have a spare mouthpiece, but no valve cages... Not like I need them right now, but hope to restore another Healthways Double Hose sooner or later and sure having a complete mouthpiece would be a good thing. Mark

Not Dacor is it? Just a guess. Mark

The ones on the lower right (middle and lower) are probably Sportsways mouthpieces for the Duel Air and/or the Hydro Twin. They take a special hose size, which I don't think is now manufactured (may be the same as the Dacor, but I don't know).
I'd be interested in one of the AMF Voit grey mouthpieces.

Here are some pics of the newest acquisition (at least, the newest one in hand). This is from Rob at TheScubaMuseum. I also bought yet another Scuba and a Gold Label from him which are in the mail. AND I got something else which I will post later on when I receive it and have had my way with it for a while. Heh, heh, heh....... This Scuba is very clean, aside from the blemished label. The diaphragm is the most supple OEM diaphragm I've ever seen. It is quite usable and will go back in the unit. There is an interesting reserve restriction button in this one. I know there were two types, one for a J valve and one for the K valve. Which is which? Dunno. This one also has the old style clamp ring with a screw and nut rather than the capture threads on later ones. There is a rubberband exhaust valve on it too. It looks original and is still flexible. My other Scubas didn't have the holes in the horn that requires the band. All the rubber except the duckbill is pretty good. The duckbill was damaged and didn't come out whole. I'll do the usual duckbill mod, and get this one in working condition again. Phil

Phil,
You have the K-restrictor orifice. It has the small hole. The J-restrictor actually doesn't restrict, and has a hole the same size an the hold in the valve, which does not restrict air flow at low pressures.
