An even smarter guy, J. Robert Oppenheimer, at his desk: Not too bad, which is why skips teacher's comment is so, well, mindless! JB

Both had pretty much the same pipe tobacco tin on their desks. Great minds and all that!

I had a teacher in high school, who when he saw my cluttered desk, said to me "a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind." I despise people, but especially teachers/instructors, who think they're being so witty when they say cr@p like that: people learn differently, and as someone with ADD, I work best in clutter! JB Then you would be an absolute dynamo in my hobby room! lol

This thread seems to be meandering a bit so I thought I would pose this question here. I bought a US Divers Aqualung, Sharkskin wetsuit for cheap from ebay on a whim. The seller said it was size large (no tag though) so I figured that I could cut it down if I had to. It ain’t a large unless my name is John Cena. Bottoms fit, arms and shoulders fit but it is tight and I wear medium t shirts.
Will this thing loosen up if I start wearing it in the water or should I just donate it to JB’s collection of interesting stuff? The suit itself is in good to very good condition, zippers all operate properly. I understand that old men have oddly shaped bodies but why are my chest, arms and shoulders getting bigger as I age?

Every wetsuit I have ever owned has gotten smaller over time. Never been able to figure that mystery out

CJ, how much too small: they can be gusseted? It's fun using old wetsuits, it ads to charm of the whole experience JB

I figured that it would be good for photo ops like the old ads for cigarettes, booze and watches. I can get in it, move around and get out (barely), but it fits like a sausage casing. Gussets would ruin the vintageness of it. If I can find the right size mannikin I can create a period correct museum piece of a diver using Aqualung equipment circa 1970.

Ummmm, that sounds about right actually! Could it be that you'd gotten a little too used to new wetsuits? JB

Looks just like the one you’re wearing in the photo! Not quite as tight though. Might fit if I lost 20 pounds. I think that I’ll check with the folks at Bamboo Reef to see if I can get a deal on a rental suit when they turn them over. I may have to get a larger one and cut it down to fit properly.

Well, I have come to the reakization that my diving season is over. I had planned on doing a solo dive tomorrow, August 14th, 2020, but that won't happen. Normally, I do a risk assessment for my dives, and High Rocks is where I dive mostly because of the lifeguards being immediatly available. But this year, because of COVID-19, the lifeguards are not there, Normally, the lifeguards undergo training in the Spring, but this year they could not train, and so American Medical Response, AMR, decided to pull the lifeguards. www.koin.com/am-extra/no-lifeguards-at-high-rocks-glenn-otto-park/Because of that, I no longer have a viable emergency plan for my solo diving. My wife wants me to dive only with a Buddy, and there are not too many around. My one buddy had significant problems in the water for my last dive attempt (we did not get underwater), and solo diving is now out. I got to thinking today, and if AMR lifeguards cannot be there safely, I don't want to be there either. During my time there, I have made a rescue assist, and know that if something were to happen I would try again. But with now 160,000 plus dead of COVID-19, including doctors (a father/son doctor team died recently in Florida), I'm taking this pandemic very seriously. I already notified one young fellow I dove and snorkeled with that we couldn't dive this year. Now, without a viable emergency plan, diving solo is very risky, not from the diving, but rather because of my age (74) and potential exposure to COVID19-19. So, it's good that this is Shark Week on Discovery Channel, and I'll be on my bicycle tomorrow instead of underwater. Saturday, I'll be near and on water, but in my canoe with my wife. John

Well John, I guess it's time to sit back, relax, and light up a Lucky Strike: go ahead boy, you deserve it: for a taste that delights, it's Lucky Strikes! So remember, L.S./M.F.T.: Luck Strikes means fine tobacco... Do you remember this PSA? JB
