Hi Don,
open the first stage and you´ll be surprised. It has the same strange Piston as the 1st gen Scubapro. A "balanced Standard Piston". These regs were not built a lot....

Frank, are you saying that it's a ballanced-flow-by piston: neat-o! I was thinking the way it was configured that it looked like a ScubaPro; that being where the yoke is attached to the body. I have an old 109 that it reminded me of...

“Depth Finder: Completely balanced first stage reduction. ‘Downstream’ valving in demand stage with large water pressure diaphragm for easiest breathing possible.”
Ummm, gosh, isn't that like saying, "Our car comes with tires!" I know, I'm a smart @$$, but...

I just picked up a White Stag DEEP 1 regulator, in pretty good condition. I took apart the second stage, and found it to be in excellent condition. After cleaning and flipping the neoprene seat, I put it back on the regulator and pressurized it. It actually breaths pretty well. Then I pressurized the regulator and closed the valve; I left it overnight, and i was still holding pressure the next morning. So I think I've got a keeper. It has a rather weird first stage, which I understand to be a diaphragm first stage. I don't yet know whether it is balance or not though, and cannot get it apart because one side needs a really weird Allen wrench; none of mine fit, either metric or US Standard. More later...and photos...

Do you have any images on the "White Stag" "Oceanaut" unit and/or year of marketing?

Here are some parts diagrams I received years ago from National Scuba Repair. The DEEP 1, which is my "new" White Stag regulator, is here in two different diagrams (first and second stages). They are on different sheet. I'll post photos of those later, but may help some of you out with parts diagrams. I meant to post this last week, but got distracted by other stuff. I'll get my regulator photos up soon. Enjoy, John NOTE: THIS DEEP V HAS A RECALL ON IT!!! The regulator first stage on the bottom, the DEEP 1, is the regulator I recently picked up. I so far cannot get into the innards, as the one spring retainer ((#8) has a really weird Allen wrench hole. I'll head for the hardware shop this week to see what I can get for it.

Now, I'm starting a different post as these two sheets came from White Stag, and I've had them for the duration (since these regulators were new). These are the official White Stag sheets on the Deep II First Stage Regulator and the DEEP Second Stage Regulator. John

There is also one that is labeled instructor. I will have to look to see what model. I have most of the models and will try to get pics in the next week or so.
