The yellow hoses are in production as I speak (ok, as I type) and they are suppose to ship this Friday which means I should have them in stock by Feb 15th.

I wander how many people have done what I've done....Checked Dan's site about five times today to see if the yellow hoses are here.

According to tracking information, they are supposed to be delivered this afternoon. If they pass inspection, we should have them on the site by late tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

Well, crap. Hoses arrived and Dan looked them over. Color is great, however the cuffs are totally NOT to his specs. He ordered a certain thickness so that the clamps would fit properly (obviously), but the cuffs are too thin. They are totally unacceptable. Much thinner than he asked for. They'll have to go back. We'll keep you all informed as to the ETA of the new lot. We are very sorry for yet another yellow hose delay!

Uh, oh. I hope you're dealing with good, understanding people who will apologetically stand behind their work and ungrudgingly make good. Thanks for the update.

Uh, oh. I hope you're dealing with good, understanding people who will apologetically stand behind their work and ungrudgingly make good. They always have before. Ha. Did I just imply that they have made mistakes before? Ah, but anyway.... Don't worry, guys and gals -- we WILL have the yellow hoses. We have in writing the specs on the hoses that we ordered, and these aren't it... So we have this unfortunate and unplanned for delay. When the hoses arrived this afternoon, it was too late for Dan to call and communicate to them the problem... He will do it first thing tomorrow (2/16) and hopefully at that time we will be able to give you all a new date of arrival for the new batch. Sorry for not delivering as promised. Believe me, we are as disappointed as you are.

Waiting patiently. Why not, I won't have a chance to get them wet before May anyway.

Is there a curse upon yellow hoses? Perhaps just go to blue or gray or whatever and just forget yellow. The CURSE of the YELLOW HOSE. Apparently divers were not meant to go there.

Nemrod, Could not have said it better myself! I really don't get it? I mean in some of the greatest industrialised nations of the world a seamingly banal product(rubber/silicon hoses) cannot be reproduced or copied from the originals! Does someone know why it is so hard to do or can someone explain the process? It would be very educational.

Sorry to keep everyone waiting so long on this disastrous situation.

No, James- there is not a curse but the hose company, Crushproof Tubing that I've been dealing with for the past 7 years would like to believe it's a curse. I just call it incompetency! They made the wall thickness on the large cuff too thin after I stressed the importance time and time again of checking it before they made 500 wrong hoses. But once again their quality control was lacking and they screwed up! This is the 4th hose order that was made wrong for me but in the past they have always corrected the problem and re-made me the correct hose. But not this time. Here is what the salesman from Crushproof Tubing writes me; "Here's the scoop. We messed up. Our extruder ran the hoses with a 4/64" wall without explaination. Every available spec showed a 5/64" wall thickness for the correct part, but he managed to use an old sample spec for 100019 that requested a change from a 5/64" to a 4/64" wall. The man has been doing this for almost 30 years and I don't like his explaination anymore than you do. I just doesn't hold water. The order was for a "100019 GOLD" and if he couldn't find his copy of those specs he should have asked. Either way, it happened, and it is a 4/64" wall overall and a 3/64" wall on your larger cuff. It is clearly thinner than what you asked for. The bottom line: we'll give you a full refund if you would like, including shipping, but we won't make your hoses anymore. Over my short time here we've had mistake after mistake with your orders and most of it has been out of your direct control. The mistakes are avoidable and are of the careless variety, just like this one. It seems, however, that we are cursed with your orders. In the past 12 months we have about 15 orders that have been flagged for one reason or another by our customers, and we have hundreds of customers. You have accounted for more than a couple of those, so you can see how unusual that is. My boss has decided that it simply isn't profitable to do business with you. We place no blame with you and it is quite sad that we are unable to meet your needs, but the string of bad luck on your orders has been seemingly endless and very costly to us. I am sorry that we have to do this, but we simply cannot afford anymore returns."
This company has made 1000's of these US Divers style hoses and they have a CAD drawing showing the exact specifications. They even have their own part number for this hose. Also, they just sold the yellow ones to Mossback a few months ago and his were made correctly. And now they say they won't do business with me again because they screwed up!! What's wrong with this picture? They've told me that they make rubber hoses for NASA- now that's really scary! Now I'm forced to sell these hoses because they are all I have at the moment. The color is correct and the overall hose has the correct wall thickness- only the large cuff is too thin. As a result, the factory US Divers plastic clamps will not tighten down correctly (the Tinnerman clamps will work ok). Also, these yellow hoses seem to work ok with the reproduction straight mouthpieces because they have slightly thicker walls than the originals. To use these yellow hoses with an original US Divers mouthpiece and factory plastic clamps, you will have to add 2 wraps of electrical tape to the mouthpiece boss to built up the thickness and allow the clamps to tighten down. Because of this Mickey Mouse procedure, these hoses SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR DIVING and should be for display only. I hate to even sell a product like this but I am between a rock and a hard place. The price will be $30 a pair plus shipping. Now, I'm off to find a competent rubber company to build me a better hose........ Dan

I had a feeling that might happen. I've had only ONE person stop selling to me, so I know how it feels. The differences are that I was not going to re-sell the parts, and he never apologized for the problems, -just tried to make me sound and feel like I was the culprit instead. I only made returns on three out of 42 items ($750 total business) I purchased, yet I still got the axe for his mistakes. Oh well. Sorry about everyone's misfortune. Really, really sad.
