Business sense doesn't always make sense to the consumer. Smaller companies can't afford to lose money, no matter who is at fault. It's sad, but true. At least the hose manufacturer had the integrity to shoulder the blame and the guts to apologize. In my case, two out of the three single-item returns were exchanges, not refunds, so the seller was only out the shipping for his own errors. I even kindly offered to cover shipping because I knew he was a small business, but he ignored the offer. Go figure that one out. I feel Dan's pain and bewilderment.

I fear there may be a dirth of hoses for a while. Everybody who was making hoses or going to make a hose has not done so for many reasons. That is a shame.
I am surprised to see that Crushproof is farming the work out--I thought THEY made the hoses and not a third party? Who is the third party? Perhaps go direct to him since it appears that is as always, anything that involves an intermediary will get screwed up and clearly CrushProof is the source of the mistake. They are not correctly relaying the information to the third party extruder.
There is a curse.
In the last month we have lost our favorite chrome plater and our favorite source of hoses (Crushproof), what next?
There is always the English Enigma, perhaps the Brits will come though with the Queen's flag flying high and save the day for all of us poor vintage divers.
Dan, have you spilled any salt or broken any mirrors or walked under a ladder or something? Black cats?

James; There is no third party- Crushproof are the ones making and screwing up on the hoses. The salesman was referring to his own people down on the factory floor. I do have a black cat but he's wearing a tuxedo so that doesn't count as bad luck. : )

Well, perhaps you should suggest to them that they need to good old fashioned FIRE somebody---ie--send them packing.
We live in an upside down world.

Sorry that things got screwed up. I have been thinking of a way to make them work and fit securely. I understand you not trusting the electrical wrap method but I suspect it is no worse than the time I Shoegoo'd old diaphram that had a hole in it. I was wondering how a section of heavy duty shrink tubing over the horn would work ? I think it would be more durable and rugged than electrical tape. Just a thought...

Can I use them on my DA with a reproduction straight mouthpiece? Was a little confused by the post about fit.

OhOh Dan, Did you say your black cat is wearing a tux? Sounds like 'Evil Cat' from the Dilbert 'toons! You may be living with a cat who lives a double secret life! You know cats don't like water. O.K. now for more serious comment: I have a solution, cut a section out of a bicycle(road bike) inner tube(new) to measure 1.8cm in lenght and slip it over the end of the curved USD mouthpiece,it will fit snugly and won't slip because it is rubber and then slip large cuff YELLOW hose over for perfect fit then clamp with original plastic USD clamps and your done!Voila! Do I have to remind you guys you are Americans!Everything can be done, everything is possible!Nothing is impossible. Cheers, Michel A.

Just finished putting a set of Dans new yellow hoses on my Mistral, they do look great. I used the idea of the bicycle inner tube on the mouthpiece end and it then fits perfect. On the reg end the hose cuff was to big, I ended up wrapping about three times with plastic tape to get it close to being snug, on the exhale side the duckbill took up the room and fit fine. At least that is what I found. I also plan on picking up a real thin bicycle tube to put on the inhale side and get rid of the plastic tape, think this would be the best solution. THEY LOOK GREAT, thankyou Dan. Dorothy

Yes, they seem to work with the repro mouthpiece because the outside diameter of that mouthpiece was larger than the original mouthpiece. Dan
